Sunday morning, August 12, Tom took us to the Adelaide airport and we flew to Alice Springs, arriving in the middle of a driving rainstorm. In the desert. We ended up being rained on for four of the five days we were in the Red Centre, at Alice and at Uluru. Yup, that was a Best Western we stayed at -- a perfectly normal motel, that had a weird but functional way for us to get WiFi in the rooms; we were able to catch up on our e-mail and web reading.
